Coushatta is the Parish seat of Red River Parish. Located in north-west Louisiana Red River Parish is a rural parish with an economy based on farming, hunting and now natural gas.

Coushatta has the following facilities.

A casino attached to the Chevron Gas Station. A Goldmine Casino and another gas station with no casino.

We have 3 banks in town they are the American Bank and Trust, The Bank of Coushatta, and the Sabine State Bank.

Hardware needs are taken care of via the wonderful folk at ACE Hardware and Randy's Hardware. You can also get some hardware goodies at Nichols. Nichols also has lots of hunting supplies, firearms and supplies. Plenty of fishing equipment and RV spares and accessories.

Food is big business in Coushatta. Faustos Chicken, Bailey Burgers, Shelley's Sandwich Shop and Kayla's Kafe are some of the local eating places. Also the Mexican place Los Gallos and the Rib Place on front street. Combine that with the chains of DQ and Burger King and rumored to be coming soon is Sonic.

Coushatta is the home of the Red River Bulldawgs. The Red River Parish School Board operates 3 campuses here. Red River Elementary, Red River Junior High and High School and the Springville Campus.

Another educational facility in Red River Parish is Riverdale Academy. Riverdale Academy is the home of "The Rebels"

Coushatta is surrounded by farmland and forests. Farmed in the Red River valley are cotton, soy bean corn and other row crops. Also beef cattle are raised. Natural forests and farmed plantations of trees are also to be found in Red River Parish.
